Prophetic Actions as Demonstrations
Prophetic actions can also be demonstrations of faith or obedience.
In both the Old and New Testaments, there are examples of people being healed as they responded obediently to a specific command.
2 Kings 5:10 and 14
10. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.”
14. So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
In both cases of a leprous skin condition, neither of the subjects experienced healing until they performed specific actions of faith and obedience. This action was a prophetic demonstration of their belief that resulted in their healing. And the last miracle beside healing that can be prompted by prophetic demonstrations of faith, is a miracle of provision and multiplication, in both Old and New Testaments.
2 Kings 4:3-7
Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”
So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.”
And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”
Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money;take that and give it to them for Me and you.
The prophetic actions of intercession, communication and demonstration (faith), even in the smallest measure, are sure to release a spiritual shift and blessing in our lives, churches, cities and nations.
The revelation about these prophetic acts come only from the Holy Spirit. Jesus told Peter after Peter declared He was the “son of God”, “…Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.”
The name Simon in Hebrew means “hearing” and the name Jonah means “dove” which can refer to “ Holy Spirit”. (Bar in Aramaic means “son of”). So Jesus called Peter “the one who hears the Spirit”.
This is why Jesus told him that flesh and blood has not revealed this by my father in heaven. Yes the father has sent the Holy Spirit to give us revelation. He lives inside each born again believer.
2 Peter 1:1-4
Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
I want to say through this that we are sure we have the ability to receive revelation from the Holy Spirit as partakers of His divine nature. I encourage you to study it further and pray over it more until it sinks into your spirit first, then your mind. Later we will discuss keys to increase revelation and knowledge of Him in our lives.
An example of prophetic intercession by a minister of the Gospel shares:
“Many years ago, I was in a time of intense prayer for the nation of Haiti. As I prayed I felt a spirit of fear come over me. The enemy began to lie in my ear that if I prayed for Haiti, the voodoo spirits would make sure that my family was attacked and my children molested. At first I hesitated to pray on and then a spirit of boldness and confidence hit me. I felt in my heart that the Holy Spirit prompted me to grab a small wooden box that been hand carved in Haiti. The box was just big enough to hold a small paperback copy of the book of John that I had in my office. I placed the Gospel inside the box and proclaimed ‘the blessings of God are stronger than any curse. I proclaim that the Gospel will go forth to every home in Haiti’. (Notice that I didn’t confront the voodoo spirit but rather proclaimed the blessings of God through my words and prophetic action.) I prayed along this line for quite some time. Later that month, I read an article in a mission magazine about a group that was taking the book of John door to door to every house in the nation of Haiti. My prayers had been literally answered through that small prophetic act.
Another example from Rolland and Heidi Baker’s book “Always Enough (page 52)”.
Heidi Baker (missionary to Mozambique) shares an amazing testimony of not having enough food for 200 orphans. As they were praying and thanking the Lord for their next meal, a neighbor stopped by with a bowl of soup. There was only enough to feed Heidi’s immediate family. Heidi demonstrated prophetically her faith and obedience. She had all 200 children sit down with their bowls and give thanks to the Lord. From the pot of soup, Heidi began to dish out portions into each individual bowl until all 200 bowls had been filled with soup and bowls of her immediate family.
We are always excited about how we can fulfill God’s plans and manifest His kingdom on earth through the prophetic. We would love to hear from you! Leave a comment below.
